The Manager of Design Engineering will lead a team of Design Engineers in the design of orthopedic medical devices and related instrumentation.
Plan, coordinate, and monitor work of the Design Engineering group to support product development and sustaining engineering activities.
Establish goals for the group to help project teams meet short and long term objectives of the business.
Create development plans for Design Engineers to build and retain top talent and fill gaps in skill sets.
Establish training requirements for department and ensure compliance to policies and standard operating procedures.
Collaborate with other managers to identify and implement process improvements.
Contribute to the development of design inputs and product specifications based on marketing needs and surgeon input.
Translate design inputs into working 3D models and detailed drawings.
Incorporate design for manufacturability to reduce cost and improve product yields.
Provide technical information to marketing to support the development of marketing tools such as brochures, technical bulletins, and surgical techniques.
Associates Degree in technical area preferred, though not required if offset by sufficient work experience.
Minimum 10 years of design engineering experience, preferably in the medical device industry.
Prefer 5 years of supervision or management experience.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, possess multitasking capability, and be able to work independently
Must be detail-oriented and be a creative problem solver.
Advanced design skills with CREO or other design software.
Proficiency in application of GD&T.
Experience with CREO and SolidWorks preferred
